About this breeder Zanzibah Alpacas, the future is ........" Fine 'n' Fancy". A wonderful, L ovable, P recious Camelid, A dorable to, C herish, A pleasuse to own, A private, dedicated enthusiastic alpaca owner, with quality stock, especially selected for their fine fleece, colourful characteristics and conformation. Specialist of coloured and fancy Huacaya. Zanzibah Alpacas was founded in 2006, with a small group of pet males for a special Birthday present! We have quickly grown in numbers, due to the curious, charasmatic nature of these animals. I have sourced animals from both the larger (Bozedown, The Alpaca Stud and Classical Mileend Alpacas) and small private breeders in order to establish my foundation herd. Because my animals were primarily for my own personal pleasure and not just a business investment, I believe that this, sets us apart from the majority ! We hope to continue to enjoy these wonderful animals and endevour to always do our best to achieve high standards. I sometimes have quality coloured alpaca fleece for sale. Although I have mastered the 'art of spinning myself' and enjoy using this luxurious fleece for my own use. Our future aim is, to continue to have happy, healthy, quality colourful alpacas, to enjoy. Zanzibah Alpacas.... where the Future is Fine 'n' Fancy and growing Hairier All The Time !! 'Zanzibah Alpaca logo' is registered with UK Copywright service. Reg No.284668 www.copywrightservice.co.uk

About this breederWe are a small friendly breeder based in Bedfordshire with a herd of 8 coloured female alpacas which are hand fed daily so they are used to contact with humans and have passive dispositions. We are reluctant sellers in that we have to keep the herd size down to fit the land available. While our herd is all female we have used the best quality males available from breeders such as Livanti and Just to ensure the best possible quality cria.

About this breederElite criaEaster-Wood Alpaca Stud is a BAS-registered family-run Alpaca breeding enterprise, located in the Royal County of Berkshire. It is run by Sheila and Jeff Easter who have focused upon Elite breeding as their core business objective. The company, set up in 2008 is as a result of a long awaited dream of creating and managing a country-based livestock business. This husband and wife team are passionate about Alpacas and have created a pivotal business around their first 5 Elite Australian Alpacas purchased from Rob & Lesley Rawlins from Wellground Alpaca Stud in June 2008. In August 2008, the herd was further complimented by 13 Alpacas consisting of a mix of both pregnant females and 3 cria. This again was further enhanced with a purchase of a half share of an award-winning Stud from Wellground. Our first herd sire, Cambridge Ice Cool Lad will ensure that the Easter-Wood name will further develop first class progeny for years to come. All of the Alpacas are BAS-registered and share a 7.5 acre site split into 10 paddocks. Since there is an on-going development programme in place, further enhancement to the enterprise will include Stud services, an Alpaca garment product line and home-produced yarn. Sheila has a long history of animal husbandry including some breeding experience. Her original passion for horses has been instrumental in the initial development of the Alpaca Stud and along with Jeff’s experience of creating and managing successful commercial businesses, the Easter-Wood team offer a well-developed and creative Elite Alpaca breeding and Services enterprise.

About this breederWell - we have done it - taken the plunge and moved lock stock & barrel from the truly lovely Teifi Valley which has been our home for 7 years, to the stunning Clettwyr Valley with it's panoramic views. After some time to settle in the animals all seem to have settled and to be very happy - dogs included! We welcome all our friends and clients to our new home - just give us a call and we will be delighted to see you! We started breeding our alpacas in 2003 with a small herd of 3 pregnant females, based in the beautiful Teifi Valley. It has been a challenge sometimes, but with the help and support of other breeders, careful selection of the best quality stud males and some additional purchases we are have about reached our optimum herd size. Our animals are part of the family and a real attraction for local people and neighbours who keep a watchful eye on the girls and their babies - they always notice a 'new face', and many know the names!! We strongly believe that there are excellent alpacas and breeders in Wales, a positive treasure trove of knowledge about the animals and their fleece, and superb quality on offer for anyone wishing to start a herd or expand and improve their own herd. We believe this so strongly that we renamed our farm 'Alpacas of Wales' - we want to draw attention to what is available here, right on people's doorstep, right across Wales - in fact 'all you'll ever need'!! Support your local breeder - why travel to England when there are several high quality established breeders right on your doorstep?!!

About this breederI have been breeding alpacas since 1994, and with over 70 alpacas now probably have the largest herd in Wales. Over the years I have quietly selected carefully, from known bloodlines, concentrating on soundness, fibre and temperament. I have also acquired a wealth of experience both in the care of alpacas and in the use of their fibre. I mention the above in passing but we are modest about our achievements here at Meadowsweet Alpacas. We love our alpacas but, based on our experience, are also able to take an informed, pragmatic and down-to-earth view of the prospects for both alpacas and their fibre which we will happily share with anyone who wishes to buy from us. Due to the completely unreasonable leap in subscription fees when British Camelid alpaca owners were forced into BAS I will not be registering my alpacas in future. People seeking show stock should therefore look elsewhere. Now, in 2010, the herd stands at over 80. Our alpacas will take a rest from breeding (which they have done so nicely for me) this year. I have a few lads and open females available if anyone wishes to increase their breeding stock, also a few pet males.

About this breederMy husband bought me 5 llamas and 2 alpacas 14 years ago from reputable breeders and since then I have been addicted to these lovely animals. Although previously because of my love for them I have never sold any, my herd is getting large now and because of space it is necessary for me to do so. My fleece goes to a lady who makes designer clothes and she is delighted with it. At the moment I have reluctantly but 8 alpacas up for sale. I have some excellent handsome males from good stock. About this breederAt Oakton our alpacas are breed for quality genetics, confirmation and fibre. We invested heavily in our starter female stock and carefully sought out stud males to complement them. Our proven white male, "Greenside Toby", sired by Purston Luminosity, was placed 1st in Class and Reserve Junior Champion at Northumberland 2006. Our solid grey male, "Purston Tamerlaine", sired by Peruvian Kim was placed 3rd at the BAS National 2009, 2nd at Kenilworth and District 2009 and 2nd at the Westmoreland 2009, will be working in the Spring as will "Oakton Harvey Keitel". Sired by "Bozedown Quinton", he is solid brown and was Reserve Champion at the County of Yorkshire Show, 2009 and he was 2nd at the Westmoreland in 2009. He entered the show ring attracting instant attention and continues to improve as he matures. We welcome clients from backgrounds with little or no, alpaca or livestock experience. We have established our small stud farm on informed friendly advice with no pressure sales and more importantly our follow up after sale care. Alpacas for sale include pregnant females, some with cria at foot, pet quality males and companion animals. all in a wide range of colours and prices. We also have geldings, and occasionally a male of stud quality. We encourage package sales as we like all of our animals to have an existing herd member to help them adjust to their new home. We also breed mini donkeys and pygmy goats and enjoy visits with people who share our ethos. Please call to make an appointment.

About this breederSunnydale Alpacas is based in the Cornish Countryside, near Looe, not far beyond Plymouth and the Devon Borders, making us fairly easy to reach. We have a high quality and busy Bed and Breakfast, www.penvithbarns.co.uk, and are a short walk from the Monkey Sanctuary and the South West Coast Path. Our alpacas are a mixed herd of huacaya and suri, and all colours from whites through fawns and browns, to black (but no greys). We have owned our herd since 2005, and from the beginning have decided to breed only using the very best stud animals we could find. We work with a number of stud farms, ensuring the studs we chose are precisely matched to our females to get the very best out of the mating, and that our cria are of the highest standard. Most of the studs we use are show winners, and have excellent pedigrees and breeding records. The cria we have here are proof that we have indeed made the right decisions. We show our animals at the Cornwall Alpaca Show and at the Devon County Show. We decided not to travel further just yet, and BTV and F&M restrictions have not been conducive to longer visits anyway. Our ribbon haul at the few shows we have attended is one colour champion, five first in class, two second in class and one third in class. None of our show entries has failed to bring home a ribbon. We love all our animals, and are only prepared to sell them to somebody who will commit to care for them properly We are conscious of the fact that sometimes, things do not go according to plan, so we have introduced a guaranteed buyback scheme, if you do find you can look after animals you have purchased from us, at any time in the future, we will buy them back. (Check our web site for terms and conditions). Via our B&B, we can also offer to let you try before you buy. We will always give ADVICE freely and honestly, particularly if the subject is one of ANIMAL WELFARE. For those living close by, we can also offer an ongoing AFTERCARE PACKAGE, taking care of routing husbandry tasks, nail clipping, injections, shearing etc. We offer for sale, males, females and wethers, mostly youngsters, as breeding animals, flock guardians, and field pets. All the animals we sell are halter trained, all our animals are hand fed twice daily, to ensure they are tame. Our B&B guests visit regularly, so our herd is quite used to visiting strangers. If we have a focus at all, it is on fancy suris. We have a small number, including those we have bred on our farm. They are not usually for sale, but if you are interested in a conversation, why not phone.

About this breeder ****WhyNot Alpacas, only a small selection of whose animals are listed in the For Sale section of this website, in fact have a WIDE VARIETY OF ALPACAS FOR SALE, including alpacas of both sexes in varying ages and colours. We are confident that we shall be able to fit you up with just the alpacas to suit your particular taste/needs**** ***Recent Quotes from Satisfied Customers who have bought animals or Knitwear from WhyNot Alpacas: “Boys are great – ever charming, & we can’t believe how little trouble they are. Seems every time I look out of the window they’re having their photos taken by people in shorts.” (e-mail, 21/3/09) “You would not believe how well they have settled-it is as if they were meant to live in our copse. We are completely, utterly and absolutely in love. Bliss!” (e-mail, 16 /6/09) "Just to say the pullover is super. Wear it all the time." ***WhyNot Alpacas is an expanding, family-run herd, established in 2000. All our animals for sale are hardy and well-handled; and all youngstock are halter-trained. *** The ever-improving quality of our herd has been demonstrated at Shows over the years. Deals available on packages of three or more animals. PLEASE NOTE: 1. Because we firmly believe that, especially in the North of England, it is not beneficial to cover a young female before she has had proper time to mature, it will be found that our home-bred girls have all been given plenty of time to grow up, rather than being covered in adolesence. We hope that they are going to be breeding for many years; and our policy is based upon not spoiling the sheep for a ha'porth of tar (or the extra six months). We hold that waiting to start them on a Spring-birthing cycle can do nothing but good, to both them and their owners. 2. In 2009, as in previous years, ever since its inauguration, we had a very successful two days at this year's Cockermouth Woolfest, with both a selection of our home-bred alpacas and our home-grown alpaca products. As always, the Public's interest in the alpacas was phenominal: had we been able to charge x.p/photo, we could have taken early retirement! We expect to go there again in 2010 Once again, we shall take a selection of alpacas, together with our own alpaca products, to the HOLKER HALL GARDEN FESTIVAL, near Cartmel, o 4/5/6 June 2010. Our stand always engenders enormous interest from the Festival's many visitors***. 3. As we have done so successfully for several years past, we expect to take our animals and alpaca products to the Westmorland County Show on 9 September, and to several other local shows in and around Cumbria. DON'T MISS LOOKING US UP AT THESE EVER-POPULAR EVENTS Or WhyNot COME AND SEE US AT HOME? WE HAVE MANY WONDERFUL CRIA, BOTH MALE AND FEMALE AND IN A VARIETY OF COLOURS, WHICH, WITH THEIR MOTHERS, ARE WELL WORTH A VIEW FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO START OR ADD TO THEIR HERD. EXCELLENT TERMS AVAILABLE ON PACKAGES*** *** Apart from our new Stud Male, Blueberry Sinbad Bahiti, who is awaiting his first cria this season, all our established Stud Males have super cria on the ground here from their 2009 crop. We are particularly excited by the offspring of WhyNot Kalypso, who started work in 2008. WhyNot come and see these Boys, to give you an idea of the potential unlockable by mating your female to one of them on our very reasonable terms? *** ***WhyNot GIVE US A RING TO ARRANGE A FARM VISIT TO ENABLE YOU TO SEE FOR YOURSELF WHAT WE DO AND THE CHARMING ANIMALS WE HAVE? Members of the Cumbrian Fibre Cooperative dedicated to the breeding of quality alpacas and concerned about the welfare and well being of our animals. We will not concentrate purely on self coloured animals but take great enjoyment from a mixture of colours and personalities. Our alpacas give us a tremendous amount of pleasure and make us 'smile' and we are always willing to share this with anyone who would like to visit us. 'Merrylegs Bill', (son of Wessex Julius and Bozedown Maud) a stunning light fawn stud is now ready to work, please contact us for further information. Never underestimate your alpacas! We attended our first ever show (Westmorland County Short Fleece Show) on 11 September 2008 taking with us 'Goya' (a black huacaya) 'Greer' (brown) 'Holly' (white). We were both astounded and hugely delighted to receive 2 first places and a third. The icing on the cake was 'Little Eskrigg Goya' who won 'Black Huacaya Champion' - a fantastic day!

About this breederCelia and Michael Berry have been breeding Alpacas in North Wales since 2002. Once we had our first alpacas sheared, we asked other breeders what they did with the fleeces and found "not a lot" was the usual answer. We decided to purchase the NorWEFT Mini-Mill and now offer Alpacas for sale, either as a starter herd or singly as additions to your herd, stud male services, plus fleece processing and bespoke knitting of garments from your fleeces.

About this breederi first became fascinated by camelids about 10 years ago; initially i kept llamas, but then alpacas. i bought a herd at dispersal and have enjoyed breeding them and caring for them, but now reluctantly, because my herd has grown as i have difficulty in letting them go, i have to sell some on in order to make way for new stock. i need to find good caring homes for them now. i keep in touch with and offer backup support to any first time owners of my crias, even 10 years down the line.

About this breederNew shelterLaurel Farm is a family run alpaca breeding business we established in 2004 with a small foundation herd of females bred in the UK. Numbers have increased from births within the herd and imported alpacas specially selected for their ability to enhance the quality of the herd. The majority of the alpacas at Laurel Farm now have been bred on farm from the original start up herd and their progeny. As part of our breeding programme we aim for the best quality fleece combined with alpacas of moderate size so that they are easy to handle. The farm gates are on the main road, thus avoiding the need to spend vast sums of money on advertising, and this together with the emphasis on keeping the alpaca husbandry as natural as possible enables us to sell very good quality stock at reasonable prices. All breeding alpacas are registered with the British Alpaca Society (B.A.S.) The breeding herd comprises of black, brown, fawn and white animals with our own brown and white herd sires. We also sell males as fleece producers, sheep/chicken guards or field pets. alpacas for sale, We halter train all the alpacas bred on the farm, and all our stud males are halter trained. With the lovely rich colours in alpacas, the natural un-dyed fleece is a real and environmentally friendly alternative to dying white fibre. The market place has encouraged the production of white fleeces for many years, leading to fewer good quality coloured animals being bred but we are dedicated to improving our stock of both coloured and white alpacas to keep a balance within the herd. North Somerset Show 2008One of our first homebred females, Laurel’s Saphire, who has a beautiful rich dark brown fleece, gained second place and Reserve Champion in her class at the Devon show in 2006 and we have continued to achieve impressive show results ever since. For various reasons we did not show our alpacas very much in 2009 but we shall be back on the circuit in 2010. The welfare of our alpacas is paramount and single alpacas will not be sold unless they are to join an established herd (however small). We pass on as much information as possible to our clients when they buy alpacas from us and are always available by telephone for any after sales queries. We have alpaca paddocks coming right up to the farmyard and we try to move the herd around so that all experience the various noises of passing traffic and people, thus making life much less stressful when they go to a different environment. Visitors often comment on how calm and relaxed they seem. We are always happy to talk to visitors and offer as much after sales back up as you need for as long as you need it. If you would like to come and visit us, please do not hesitate to give us a ring or email us, or if the farm gates are open when you are passing, just call in.

Our other male is a very dense and well crimped blue black boy. Who is expecting a number of cria this season. We have owned a number of our herd for a few years, but have only been based at our current farm since april 2007 and still have loads of work to do. With this said we still welcome all, from people just thinking of starting out or the more established out there. We will help and give advise where possible, but are more than waware that there will always be things to gain from others as well. All we ask is to telephone first just to make sure we are here and bring warm clothing in the colder months, dartmoor national park gets quite nippy. About this breederOur approach to herd management and animal husbandry emphasises high welfare with low environmental impact. Our elite herd specialises in coloured animals with particularly fine fleeces, a product of several years experience within an ambitious breeding programme. Their fleeces are usually classed as the most valuble "Baby" or "Royal Baby" fibre, in both white and natual colours, and so are ideal for handspinning. If you don't spin yourself, these beautiful soft fleeces are the perfect way of making yourself very popular with your local spinners! We sell all our fleeces locally - at least, the one's we don't keep to spin ourselves. All animals have been halter trained. They are also particularly friendly and easy to handle, having been raised in a small, stable herd where each animal gets personal attention. We can provide access to some of the best world-class alpaca genetics in the UK, including Mateus, the 2003 Supreme Champion winner at the Royal Bath & West Show.

About this breederWriggle Valley Alpacas are located in the heart of the ancient village of Yetminster grazing within fields that date back to the Doomsday Book. We are a small family enterprise breeding Huacaya alpacas with fine quality fleeces and sound conformation, of course! but more to the point we do it for the enjoyment of owning and breeding alpacas. We breed mainly light coloured alpacas and our aim is to improve conformation, fleece density and fineness with each new generation. This is achieved through using high quality male sires to cover our females. The improvements are clear to see with each new cria born. We have a small breeding herd. By keeping small we know each animal individually and their care is taylored to suit their individual requirements. Our animals are treated with respect and reflect this in their calm, relaxed manner. We offer honest, down to earth advice about keeping alpacas and are happy to provide ongoing support to buyers of our alpacas. Please feel free to visit, by prior appointment, and talk alpacas.

About this breederAbout Inca Alpaca LyraTim Hey established Inca Alpaca in order to help preserve and improve coloured alpaca. This passion for black alpaca offers new owners and breeders an opportunity to obtain high quality bloodstock in order to join in the quest. The last one hundred and fifty years have seen the majority of alpaca breeders in Peru selectively breed towards white and fawn causing the numbers of black alpacas to fall to a very low level and the quality of the fibre stand still. Breeding high quality coloured alpacas in particular black is a challenge that we have taken up and are passionate about. Through the use of careful breeding decisions and strategies developed in Australia we strive to breed black alpaca to the quality now seen in the best white stock. Recently Tim's family have exported many of their black alpacas to England to form the core of Inca Alpaca. Also a small group of investors has allowed Inca Alpaca to import extremely high quality black bloodstock form Australia. These imported females have formed the top end of Inca Alpaca's plantel herd. Inca Alpaca takes great pride in offering clients support and advice from 12 years alpaca farming experience in Australia and the UK. We have taken great care in the selection of our bloodstock to ensure strong uniform genetic lines that will impart desirable characteristics to the progeny. This in turn will ensure our long-term success and that of my clients through minimising breeding risks and developing the sale of high priced bloodstock and fibre domestically and into the ever growing European market. Inca Alpaca shares a strong relationship with Alpacas of Wessex here in the UK and ABQ Alpacas in Chile. This alliance ensures clients the best service and resources possible in this new European farming venture. Goals Champion black fleeceI have a vision that is shared by many breeders of black alpacas around the world. That vision is to one day breed and maintain a herd of black huacaya and suri alpacas that clip a fleece to the same weight and quality equal to the best white alpacas now found in the UK. By learning from the research and experience in the merino, angora and alpaca industry in Australia and North America I can reduce incorrect breeding decisions and begin to understand the link between nutrition, physiology and fibre. My own experience tells me that my goal is obtainable if I apply all that I have learnt and use males that consistently produce uniform progeny that carry the traits I desire and use newly developed breeding strategies that that are proven to improve the herd’s clip in leaps and bounds while keeping the black colour. About Tim Hey Tim Hey with dogsI grew up on an Alpaca farm in Tasmania Australia and was involved with many aspects of my families’ herd called Van Diemen Alpacas. At the age of 18 I attended the University of Tasmania and graduated three years later with a science degree in Aquaculture. I then worked in a technical and scientific role for the largest Atlantic salmon producer in Australia, while still being heavily involved with the parents’ herd and the Tasmanian region of the Australian Alpaca Association. A position with Alpacas of Wessex temped me to England where have enjoyed working with excellent stock and a professional team. At Alpacas of Wessex I still enjoy being part of the team and working with them to take the alpaca industry forward. I have been to Peru and Australia many times on behalf of Alpacas of Wessex, ABQ Alpacas and Inca Alpaca selecting alpaca for import into Europe. I had the privilege of selecting with a team of professionals including Geoff Scott, Monyka Portecarrero and John Gaye where we have selected some of the top alpacas ever to enter Europe. These alpacas included Wessex Rural Alianza Wiracocha, Wessex Adonica and Wessex Rural Alianza Don Pepe. Location Upper Leigh FarmLocated in the South of England on the Dorset Wiltshire border, Inca Alpaca offers interested potential people and existing breeders an ideal opportunity to visit, view stock and learn more about this exciting and new rural enterprise. We are also conveniently located for the International visitor as we are only 90 minutes from London’s Heathrow Airport.

About this breederFrom my small herd I have bred only two to four alpacas a year always using some of the best alpaca studs in the UK. Regrettably I have to give up the venture due to changes in personal circumstances The herd consists of a number of young male and female alpacas and a few older females that still still have many years of breeding ahead of them and are currenly pregrant. The prices refect the need to move the animals on to new owners as soon as possible and are considerably lower than are likely to be charged by those with larger herds for similar quality alpacas.

About this breederWe are Hampshire based small holders having originally bred Charolais cattle. In recent years we decided to diversify and purchased three breeding female Alpacas with a view to building up a small herd and ultimately selling young stock. We now have a herd of 30 Alpacas plus young stock for sale. Rather than just selling fleeces we decided to produce from fleece to finished textiles ourselves. Visitors to the farm and spinning and handweaving workshop are welcome.

About this breederCherwell Leys Alpacas is based in Hampshire close to the borders with Wiltshire and Dorset. If you are new to alpacas we are happy to help and willing to pass on our knowledge of these animals with guidance and husbandry courses tailored to your requirements. If you want to get started with alpacas, but have no land, we can offer alpaca livery "agistment" whilst you get to know your alpacas and find them their new home. This gives you an opportunity to learn and feel comfortable with your knowledge before "going solo". If you are already involved with alpacas and are looking to add to your herd, we have quality alpacas bred here at Cherwell Leys especially for improving fleece characteristics. We are a small and friendly farm with our aim to breed alpacas using the finest genetics, selecting primarily for superior fleece characteristics and sound conformation. We have an ongoing commitment to improving fleece quality through our breeding program here at Cherwell Leys. With this in mind we have added Australian genetics to our herd, four females pregnant to top Australian stud males are now at Cherwell Leys. We have not focused solely on whites and have a herd of many colours, but realize the need to add the improved genetics available from the southern hemisphere to develop our breeding program. We have had show success with our home bred alpacas, achieving Colour Champion, Brown, at BAS Spring Show 2007, with Cherwell Leys Clemency. We have our females and five stud males, our SUPREME CHAMPION, Farleigh (White) two new young prize winning machos both light fawn, Romeo & Mac. Romeo has progeny on the ground at Cherwell Leys, available to view, excellent females and a very promising young male. Mac was a slower starter his offspring are not due until 2008. This year we have added Othello & Benedict into our breeding program. Othello is a very promising blue/black male, with similar parentage to Champion Centurion, we are looking forward to his offspring due 2008. Benedict is white, sired by Arunvale Cloud. Cloud has sired many prize winning offspring, fingers crossed that this will continue with Ben.(More on their exploits later) We offer friendly advice and visitors are always welcome, please telephone first, Graham or Kathy on 01725 519411

We've almost finished the fencing...just the

It all started in 2003 when Martin bought a magazine which featured an Alpaca and Llama supplement. We were smitten with these lovely creatures with such large, kind eyes. I had always regretted not pursuing a career in the Veterinary field and Martin had always wanted to work the land his father had given to him, which had been in his family for fifty years. Maybe alpaca farming was the answer for us both? We read quite a few alpaca articles in various magazines, researched alpaca ownership on the internet and spoke to other alpaca breeders. We were very excited at the prospect of becoming involved in this different way of life and within a few weeks we decided we would buy two pregnant females and ‘give it a go’! Our venture had begun!!! We set about preparing the land for the alpacas’ arrival. We planted Weeping Willow trees for future shade and started on the paddock fencing and field shelters….Also, the whole perimeter of our land had to be fenced off to keep our two Golden Retrievers, Sasha and Chloe, from straying. By the Summer of 2004, we decided we would definitely pursue farming alpacas as a business and started to think about progressing it as such. In April 2005, our maiden alpaca, Audrey had a very difficult birth and was left very weak and later collapsed with exhaustion. She was unable to stand and so her cria Amber wasn’t able to feed. The crucial five hours passed and we needed to stomach tube Amber with the Alpaca Colostrum, or we’d lose her… I had only seen this done once and didn’t feel competent enough, so we called our Vet who done this for us. Martin and I had to watch over Audrey and Amber all night, sitting in his transit van with the lights shining onto mother and cria in the field shelter! It got to nearly 3.00am and Amber still hadn’t been able to feed from Audrey so we went up to our caravan in the barn, in the pitch black of the night and managed to make up a bottle of milk by torch light!! I was just about to start to try and feed Amber with the bottle, when Audrey stood up and Amber started to try and feed from her! I waited for a while and eventually was relieved to see Amber feeding from her mum! What a relief, we really didn’t want to have to intervene. After this night of sitting up watching over Audrey and Amber, Martin and I concluded that if our alpaca business had any chance of succeeding, then we would need to be living on site, for the sake of the cria in the birthing season. In the Summer of 2005 we obtained planning permission for a log cabin to be built on our land, enabling us and our two teenage boys to live on site with our alpacas and progress the alpaca business. We chose Windmill Lodges in Suffolk to supply and build our log cabin. They did a fantastic job and it was completed within twelve weeks from start to finish!! Their team are really lovely people - professional, competent and friendly - by the time they had finished we were really sad to see them leave, they had become like family to us. We moved into our log cabin on 14th November 2005. We have been so busy since moving in with getting the business properly up and running….but we are all loving it…..and so do Sasha and Chloe…..they see so much wildlife now……rabbits, pheasants, ducks……they can‘t believe their eyes!!!!!

About this breederWe live in a small village in Lincolnshire near the Lincs, Notts, Leics borders close to the A1 and A46. Livestock farming for 30 years breeding pigs, sheep and fattening cattle on 220 acres of grass and arable we were looking to diversify into something different and more child friendly that the whole family could participate in. Having looked into owning alpacas for many years we finally took the plunge in 2005, starting with 4 young female alpacas 3 of which were pregnant. We were warned that alpacas are addictive when we first looked into buying them and this was certainly true for us, as, 9 months later we bought another 10. All our alpacas are registered with the British Alpaca Society (BAS) and are micro chipped for identification and security. All our youngsters are halter trained.

About this breederBased in North Yorkshire, we are breeding alpacas using the finest quality genetics that we can. Of our expanding group of Australian-bred females, all have several generations of impeccable pedigree and include legendary names in the Australian herd book: - Purrumbete Highlander, Purrumbete El Dorado, Purrumbete Ledgers Dream, Purrumbete Inti, Jolimont Sculptor, Windsong Valley Royal Inca, Jolimont Conquistador, Jolimont Commisario, Jolimont Gladiator, Benleigh Bellisimo, NWA Luminosa, Peruvian El Bueno, Kingston Park Paragon, Samaria Valley Saladin, Jolimont Stefano, Windsong Valley Snow Legend, Purrumbete Sweet Freedom and Benleigh Highland Belle. We are also delighted to have the genetics of one of the most influential North American herd sires – Peruvian Hemingway. Our cria not only have the backing of years of quality breeding in their pedigrees, but are halter-trained and given every care, attention and encouragement to fulfil their potential as healthy, happy and productive members of our herd. Fowberry alpacas run over 80 acres of post and railed fields which offers them varied terrain and interest. We try to keep their care as natural as possible with all the females together so maidens can learn from their mothers, aunties and sisters. We work closely with our local veterinary practice and no expense is spared in researching and understanding the health and particularly the nutritional needs of the alpaca. Whilst breeding and selecting primarily for superior fleece characteristics and sound conformation we also have an eye to quality colour and to that end, we not only have Australian coloured females, but are concentrating on improving our home grown colours which include black, grey, and various shades of browns and fawns, especially with the recent import of a top-rated black male from Australia. We have seven stud males standing at Fowberry, all bought/bred to complement one another. This includes a championship-winning son by Jolimont Commisario of exceptional quality with an 17.0 micron fleece at 26 months (0%>30). EP Cambridge Top Account of Fowberry was awarded maximum marks for fleece characteristics at screening, including an additional five bonus marks for density despite having a comfort factor of 100%. Also standing at Fowberry is our multi-prize winning Accoyo stud - *Bozedown Viscount, son of Jolimont Conquistador. Whilst winning the ‘All Colours Adult Male’ Championship at the biggest alpaca show in Europe – the Royal Bath and West 2004, the international judge Dr Julio Sumar remarked of Viscount - “This animal’s conformation and fleece make him a champion”. In addition we have Van Diemen Rocco - Scottish National Alpaca Show - Supreme Champion 2005 - a proven macho with a top quality fine-fleeced Australian lineage which includes Purrumbete Highlander. Warramunga Downs Miguel, a stunning young black boy with excellent credentials, brought over from Australian to take forward our coloured lines. Also light brown, half Accoyo boy - Fowberry Inca Prince with impressive substance of bone and colour consistency and last but not least - very, very black Griffin of Fowberry with chunky frame. All available for stud work. Business, farm planning and alpaca-buying advice freely given. Regular alpaca courses held in purpose built centre. Visitors are most welcome to view our herd – ‘phone for directions. *Half-owned with Bozedown Alpacas. About this breederI bought 2 alpacas in 1997 for the purpose of keeping my daughter’s horse company and to help eat the grass. It was not long before my fascination for the alpaca developed into a full time wonderment. Since those early days I have established a top quality herd in Oxfordshire. In some ways time has stood still; I still spend a large part of most days just staring at the alpacas, often with my Great Dane taking in the beautiful view. I have always strived for quality, rather than quantity, and a friendly nature is important to me and is evident in all my animals. I never enter the animals for competitions as I do not believe in beauty parades. I have a selection of colours and naturally offer a stud service. The fleeces have been converted into magnificent blankets which are always in stock. I am a member of the British Alpaca Society and my animals are all tagged and micro chipped. My farm is about 9 miles from Oxford, not far from Junctions 8 and 9 of The M40. I supply first time buyers and other breeders, so if you are interested in what we have, please do call in. About this breederRed Hill Alpacas are relative newcomers to the alpaca scene. Chris and Linda Goffey had looked at keeping alpacas some years ago, but only took the plunge to put together a small breeding herd in 2003. With just eight acres of pasture at our Oxfordshire home, it's a small and friendly environment for the animals - each one is given individual attention - and the youngsters rapidly become accustomed to dogs, horses, hens and children. We halter train all our young stock, and walks through the village have become a regular sight for neighbours. If you find the "big boys" of the Alpaca world rather intimidating, come and talk to us, we can show you how really small herds can give enormous satisfaction. We are happy to stay in touch with the animals we sell, offering advice and help with routine husbandry- toe clipping, and routine medication for example. And while we might be small, there have been modest successes too - we have bred class winners at the Royal Show (2004) and the BAS National Show (2005). Naturally, we've taken care with the selection of mates for our females - aiming to improve colour and fibre quality in the next generations. What we want people to appreciate is the fact that owning and keeping alpacas is above all FUN. They are such delightful individuals you never tire of watching their interaction in the herd, and the antics of the youngsters. Try it and see! Forest Hill is located just off the A40, 7 miles to the east of Oxford city centre. We don't keep set ‘opening hours’ – but phone first to make sure we’re in.

About this breederHaving bred alpacas since 1995, we are extremely proud of our exceptionally fine animals which come in a wide range of colours. Standing at Stud we have a full range of both White and solid Coloured animals. All have dense fleeces with low micron counts and great conformation. Our particular pride and joy is Accoyo Shere Revenge who we imported from Australia after he had become Champion Adult Huacaya Male at the 2006 Royal Melbourne Show. His sire is Accoyo Rasputin, who in turn is son of Don Juio Barreda's number one Sire Shere Kahn. High quality females are usually sold pregnant, with or without the current year's cria at foot. Should a female be open, the purchaser may choose from our males as to which sire is desired to father the next cria. We also have Peruvian and Chilean stud males for sale, along with good pet quality animals, all at attractively competitive prices. We halter train all our alpacas and they are well used to handling. Friendly on-going support and advice always available. Visitors are most welcome and encouraged to view our beautiful herd without obligation. Do come and spend some enjoyable hours with us and our wonderful alpacas! Please telephone Louise Claydon on 07778044811 to arrange an appointment. As well as being halter trained, all our animals are micro chipped, tagged and registered with The British Alpaca Society. About this breederBased in a picturesque valley in the North Oxfordshire countryside Just Alpacas are home to a beautiful herd of suri and huycaya alpacas. Owned by Judy and Jon Hilton the herd features a wide range of colours, specialising in dark coloured huycayas and suris. In January 2001 the herd was started with the highest quality female alpacas from the ‘Winning 90’ imported from South America. Since this time breeding with carefully chosen males and selected additional animal purchases have seen the herd grow to the current 25 alpacas. Just Alpacas made their first animal sales in 2002 and now have a number of happy customers with beautiful alpacas including two Suri Stud males. 2003 saw the addition of two imported stud males to the herd. All young cria are harness-trained and most have been to livestock shows around the country. Just Alpacas are proud of their excellent show results which include many first in class placings and a ‘best black at show’ award. In addition to these local show awards they have had first in class placings at the 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 BAS national shows and were delighted with two reserve champions last year. # We are specialising in Grey and black alpacas but have most of the range of colours available. Just Alpacas is a supporter of the British Alpaca Society and all their alpacas are registered with the society and microchiped. Owner Judy Hilton has served on the board of the BAS and takes animal welfare very seriously. The alpacas are Judy and Jon’s first (and only) farm animals. They know what it is like to start from scratch as an alpaca breeder so if you are considering making an investment in these wonderful animals for the first time, please feel free to talk to them for advice.

About this breederWe started our alpaca breeding business in August 2008 with six breeding females, two with female cria at foot and five wethers. We deal in all colours. We are based in the Brendon Hills about one and a half miles from the village of Huish Champflower, and about five miles from Wiveliscombe. They were bought from two well renouned alpaca breeding farms, "Mileend Alpacas" and Dreamfield Alpacas", with whom we have used their stud services using champion studs to remate our females to ensure our future cria are from the best genetic stock and produce the best fibre possible. Including last year, we have had eight cria born to date. Six females and two males, ranging in colour from solid white to black. We have recently purchased two stud males to help us better our herd quality. One is the prize winning Wellground Jason, a stunning 4 year old mid brown stud who is an excellent and proven stud. The other is Penlan Patcho, an unproven solid white stud who has just reached maturity at just over two years of age and has an excellent, strong bone structure and has performed very well to date in his matings. We also have alpaca fleeces for sale, and raw unprocessed alpaca fibre seconds for sale. We are willing to answer any questions you may have about our herd, and if you would like to come and see us and our alpacas, please ring up to arrange a time and we would be very pleased to meet you.

About this breederWe are Nick and Ros WEBER; our family have been livestock farming in Somerset for the past 30 years and in 1998 we purchased our foundation Alpacas. Eight years later and we have our third generation alpacas on the ground and can see for ourselves the advances we have made breeding up from foundation 'hembras' using top quality 'machos' from Bozedown Alpacas. The rate of improvement is really exciting and it is this that makes breeding our own alpacas so rewarding-!! We have been ASSOCIATE BREEDERS to the BOZEDOWN HERD for many years as we recognised straight away the exceptional quality and diversity in their bloodlines and we are delighted to be able to offer a wide selection of stock from their exceptional herd, with over 100 animals available for inspection on our farm. This relationship also allows us to offer clients a choice of 'Top Class' BOZEDOWN STUD MALES held in Somerset. SEE OUR STUD LISTING. We offer value for money stock, services, and free advice without obligation. We provide full support in all aspects of Alpaca management to our clients. We are members of the BRITISH ALPACA SOCIETY, and Nick is chairman of British Camelids Ltd, now a charitable trust for Camelids following the merger of the two breed societies' registries.

About this breederHere at Burcott Manor in Somerset, we have been breeding alpacas since 1997. Like most alpaca enthusiasts, we started with a small herd. We now stock between 25 and 40 mixed colour alpacas depending on the season. Our alpacas are well cared for, and easy to handle. We are enthusiastic about breeding and supplying healthy and well adjusted animals. The original Alpaca Centre in Penrith have advised us from the beginning, and we recommend their courses. Just outside the city of Wells, in Somerset, we are happy to be visited. Call first and we will be happy to show you our animals, and give you any help you need to set up your herd. Generally, we prefer to sell our alpacas in small groups. They are herd animals and are much happier to move with their friends!

About this breederWe are small independent and of course friendly breeders of fine quality alpacas. We started five years ago with a good quality foundation herd and by carefully selecting the best stud males around, we are now producing some really fine third generation offspring. Our herd is predominantly white, but we have recently introduced some colour. We started with white as it seemed that with the ability to dye white yarn any colour, this was the sensible approach. But of course keeping these wonderful animals is not all about fleece, so having a mixture of colours is rather fun. We are always happy to welcome visitors interested in learning more about alpacas and the pleasures they bring - just phone first.

About this breeder Millbrook Alpacas, now situated in the beautiful rural Suffolk near the market town of Framlingham, was started in 2004 with the purchase of 7 alpacas. Owners Joanne Margossian and Michael Hunter have built up numbers rapidly since, with many animals coming from leading studs in the UK. The herd is now over 70 animals strong. The overriding goal at Millbrook is to improve the qualities in both fleece attributes and animal conformation in coloured alpacas. While we intend to maintain a small group of white alpacas, breeding quality coloured alpacas in the main adjective. We are working towards this improvement by selecting the best stock available both locally and also overseas. We are committed to being a part of the long term sustainability of alpaca fibre production here in the UK. In order to help develop and establish Millbrook Alpacas as a leading stud, it was decided to appoint a Stud Manager. In February 2006 Matthew McAninly joined us from Australia. Matt has come to us with a number of years experience with alpaca fibre - having being the only full-time classer for Australian Alpaca Fleece Ltd. He has also has years of farming experience gained from growing up on a dairy farm. Along with the alpacas, Mill Farm is also home to the Millbrook Scottish Highland Fold and a collection of other unusual farm animals. We usually have a range of stock for sale, from pet/sheep guards to quality breeding females. Starter packages for new breeders are our specialty. If we believe we don’t have what you are looking for, we are more than happy to assist you in finding the right animals – with our detailed knowledge of the leading UK studs and also leading Australian breeders the right animals for your situation will be sourced. Millbrook Alpacas is a member of the British Alpaca Society (BAS).

About this breederWe live on a 31 acre farm on top of the Pennines where the program "Last of the Summer Wine" is filmed, (at the bottom of our fields in fact). We have 3 horses, 3 goats, 1 dog, 2 manic puppies, 2 cats, 3 sheep and now 20 alpacas, having just sold some. We became "hooked" on alpacas, by wanting to get 2 or 3 sheep to graze a rather steep lawn for us, as I was fed up of falling off the lawnmower. A very dear friend of mine said, "you don't want sheep, you want alpacas". We had no idea what an alpaca was, so we went on the internet and on Alpaca Seller. Like most people, we loved these wonderful animals. We sourced 7 alpacas in spring 2005 - 2 pregnant females, 2 ten month old boys, 1 potential stud male, (now proven), and 2 six month old girls. The 2 babies were born that July, a boy and a girl. We are now breeding with our original stud male and two of our other boys. We have most colours of alpacas and all are friendly and very happy. Our rose grey stud is now proven and has produced some lovely cria. We are looking forward to this year's cria as we have also used our pale fawn stud, Bollinger.

About this breederWelcome to the World of Wellground Alpaca Stud. A privately owned family alpaca farm. The team at Wellground Alpaca Stud have spent the last ten years striving to create a new and innovative business creating an Elite Alpaca Breeding Programme. We have been researching and sourcing alpaca genetics from around the World for a decade, with the intention of creating a collection of the most desired bloodlines. We now have a selection of four amazing herdsires, bred from famous ancestors in Australia. These stunning males have been selected on grounds of genotype as well as phenotype. They have been selected because of the elite ancestors in their pedigrees. These elite ancestors have made an enormous impact on the breeding programmes of some of the World’s most successful alpaca herds. Offspring from these famous ancestors have proved themselves repeatedly in alpaca shows across the World. See our Audio-Visual Presentation about our Elite Alpaca Breeding Programe.
